Unlimi-Tech Software, Inc., the pioneer in accelerated file transfers, is pleased to announce that NICE Software, a leading provider of comprehensive grid & cloud solutions, has integrated their FileCatalyst fast file transfer technology within EnginFrame, the world’s first grid portal.
EnginFrame has seen strong adoption by oil & gas computing applications, since it allows petroleum engineers to reduce submission time, track run time, efficiently manage the large data-sets associated with daily uploads. A considerable amount of time was being spent waiting for these large data sets to be collected and exchanged. Using FileCatalyst as the file transfer mechanism, EnginFrame allows organizations to recoup lost time via rapid access to valuable data, applications and resources.
The EnginFrame portal allows reservoir engineers to upload data, monitor the solution and download the result. Files are automatically detected, uploaded, cached and reused, with unattended and incremental simulation results synced back automatically. The process is driven entirely from the portal.
“The problem engineers have had was submitting these jobs from Perth, Australia to Houston, Texas,” said Antonio Arena, Solutions Architect at NICE Software. “The data sets vary from 2GB to 5GB. The engineers had to transfer the files to Houston using Windows Explorer, submit to the cluster and then copy back the results. This is where we thought about combining our portal with FileCatalyst for the accelerated and automated transfer of these files. We are pleased to report that this has resulted in measurable increased efficiencies.”
These efficiencies are seen in faster file transfers, and also in reduced run times for CPU intensive applications such as seismic analysis and reservoir simulation. These two areas are part of the complex challenges in oil & gas exploration. EnginFrame, coupled with FileCatalyst, provides immediate benefits to these areas.
“We are excited to be working with NICE, providing secure, reliable and accelerated transfer for EnginFrame generated files,” says Alan Atkinson, Vice President of Business Development at Unlimi-Tech. “NICE provides solutions for some of the most notable names in the oil and gas industry including British Gas, BHP Billiton, ConocoPhillips, ENI, Hess, Nexen, Statoil, TNK-BP, TNNC, and Total. We are privileged to have these companies leverage our software to their advantage.”
About Unlimi-Tech Software
Located in Ottawa, Canada, Unlimi-Tech Software is the creator of FileCatalyst, the world’s leading file transfer solution. Founded in 2000, the company has more than a thousand commercial and government clients.
FileCatalyst is a software platform designed to accelerate and manage file transfers. FileCatalyst is immune to the effects that latency and packet loss have on traditional file transfer methods like FTP, HTTP or CIFS. Global organizations use FileCatalyst to solve issues related to file transfer, including content distribution, file sharing and offsite backups.
