Sun TV Network Deploys FileCatalyst Across Multiple Locations

Ottawa, ON – Filecatalyst, an Emmy® award-winning pioneer in managed file transfers and a world leading accelerated file transfer solution, has announced that Sun TV Network has deployed FileCatalyst Direct across their entire infrastructure as their main transport method for media assets.

Sun News is a Tamil News and Entertainment TV channel based in Chennai and is India’s largest media conglomerate including thirty three TV Channels with the reach of more than 95 million households in India. Sun TV Network’s channels can be viewed in 27 countries including U.S.A, Canada, Europe, Singapore, Malaysia, Srilanka, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

Sun TV Network faced challenges when transporting their large media files in and out of their facilities. Previously, they had used free web-based applications that leveraged FTP to perform transfers. They also physically sent assets via Hard Disk Drives (HDD’s) to various broadcasting stations. Large amounts of degradation was present in their overall network performance which caused slow, or failed, transfers. Shipping physical storage became very became costly and unreliable with hard deadlines.

Sun TV Network has chosen to use FileCatalyst Direct to face these challenges. FileCatalyst Direct gives Sun TV Network the ability to send their large files at a an accelerated rate securely and reliably to each broadcasting location over a 100Mbps network. Transfers that once took up to 14 hours to finish are now finished within 3.5 hours. Numerous client locations and servers are able to work simultaneously, each sending or receiving approximately 150GB of data per day.
