Hard to believe it has been 9 years since our first NAB in 2006. I look at our upcoming show in a week and what we are now able to deliver and compare it to our first NAB and there really is not any comparison at all.
In 2006, we had an extremely immature product, but it did its job. FileCatalyst was not much more than a command line tool to send files from point A to point B. I think we debuted our HotFolder at NAB in 2006. The application was able to monitor a single folder and move a file over to a server with very limited scheduling capabilities. The booth where we displayed all of this was a tiny 10×10 in an obscure corner of the South Lower Hall.
Up until 2009, we carried most of our booth setup, including computer equipment, pop-up displays, and demo pods with us on our backs and in our luggage as we made the yearly trek to Las Vegas for the show. Our booth shifted around the hall to various 10×10 booths, until we finally graduated to a 20×10 during this time. It was still a small presence, but we were starting to get noticed. And much to the dismay of some of our competitors, we were not going away.
At NAB 2013, our booth grew again to a 20×20 format. We gained more exposure then ever before with this larger setup. Since many of our clients are in the media space, NABShow is a great event to show case our technology and to attract more attention in the file transfer market space. Here is a short video about our presence at NAB 2013.
Fast forward to 2015, tons of new products and features, marquee customers, a growing list of partners, and an Emmy® Award later, and we are heading into our biggest presence yet at NAB. I would consider this our breakout year. You’ll want to stop by the booth this year, trust me.
We have packed our 2000 sq/ft. booth with:
- Our partners who will be demonstrating world class workflow and MAM solutions;
- A speaking theatre with presentations from heavy hitters like Avid, Adobe, Telestream, and Harmonic. We will also host multiple case study presentations from one of our marquee customers, NBC Sports. They will be showing how they were able to achieve amazing feats in live sports production for the Sochi Olympics and the Super Bowl using FileCatalyst;
- A live production workflow demonstration; and
- Brand new FileCatalyst features that will be unveiled as part of our new Direct 3.5 offering.
Plus, we have a few more surprises in store too, but you will need to stay tuned!
This is shaping up to be our best year yet at NAB and we’re all very excited. If you’re attending the show, be sure to stop by booth SL8505 and see what the excitement is all about!
